Key Takeaways:

European Expansion: IonQ delivers its first quantum computer to the European Innovation Center in Switzerland.

Record Performance: IonQ Forte Enterprise operates at an algorithmic qubit count of #AQ36, surpassing previous benchmarks.

Strategic Partnership: Collaboration with QuantumBasel enhances IonQ’s global data center presence and commercial offerings.

IonQ, a leader in quantum computing and networking, has announced the delivery of IonQ Forte Enterprise to its inaugural European Innovation Center located at the uptownBasel campus in Arlesheim, Switzerland. Their achievement, in tandem with QuantumBasel, marks IonQ’s first datacenter-ready quantum computer outside the United States and the initial system for commercial use in Switzerland.

The Forte Enterprise system is now operational, handling compute tasks with a record algorithmic qubit count of system #AQ36. This enhancement significantly increases the system’s capacity, allowing it to evaluate over 68 billion possibilities simultaneously. The development helps to solidify IonQ’s position in providing ready-to-use quantum systems to its customers.

"The successful commissioning of Forte Enterprise in Europe – on schedule and at an even higher performance level than announced previously – demonstrates IonQ’s commitment to driving global quantum adoption through technological leadership and operational excellence,”

— Peter Chapman, CEO and President, IonQ

The new quantum computer is optimized for data center environments, featuring a rack-mounted design, low energy consumption, and minimal environmental isolation requirements. These features enable seamless integration with existing infrastructure, facilitating broader adoption of quantum technology in various industries.

"Offering the state-of-the-art Forte Enterprise quantum computing platform to our ecosystem will accelerate the development of quantum applications across a range of fields,”

— Damir Bogdan, CEO, QuantumBasel

The commissioning of Forte Enterprise reflects IonQ’s ongoing efforts to expand its global footprint, with existing data centers in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Basel, Switzerland. By partnering with QuantumBasel, IonQ provides its European customers, including enterprises, research institutes, startups, and universities, direct access to the #AQ36 Forte Enterprise system.

Dr. Dave Mehuys, VP of Production Engineering at IonQ, highlighted the collaborative efforts: “We aligned our system build with on-site datacenter construction and IonQ’s manufacturing and production teams leveraged their decades of expertise to bring this groundbreaking system online faster than anticipated.”

Dr. Dean Kassmann, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technology at IonQ, emphasized the significance of the #AQ36 system: “IonQ’s ability to deliver Forte Enterprise with #AQ36 reflects our growing capabilities to execute on our mission to drive significant quantum advancements globally.”
