Key Takeaways:

Quantum Interface: Keysight’s QCS provides quantum-to-classical and classical-to-quantum signal translation.

Hybrid Integration: Supports scientific computing through integration with GPUs, TPUs, and QPUs.

Modular Design: Scalable and adaptable, deployed across academia and industry globally since 2023.

Keysight Technologies announced on May 15, 2025, that its Quantum Control System (QCS) is embedded in the 256-qubit quantum computer developed by Fujitsu and RIKEN at Japan’s RQC-FUJITSU Collaboration Center. This system marks a major move in advancing hybrid quantum-classical computing architectures.

"Keysight is honored to be a part of this significant quantum journey beginning in Japan."

— Dr. Eric T. Holland, General Manager, Keysight Quantum Engineering Solutions

Modern scientific computing depends on integrating diverse processors—GPUs, TPUs, and quantum processing units (QPUs). To discover QPU potential, systems must scale and lower error rates. Keysight’s QCS enables this through its modularity and high-performance radio frequency (RF) capabilities.

"Quantum computing is still a nascent technology, and the capabilities that Fujitsu, in collaboration with RIKEN, have brought to market are essential for enabling both quantum scientific discoveries as well as training the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers."

— Dr. Eric T. Holland, General Manager, Keysight Quantum Engineering Solutions

Quantum control systems are the bridge between classical and quantum systems. They send precise instructions to the quantum processor and detect minute signal variations to determine qubit states. Keysight’s QCS delivers these functions reliably, which is why it was selected for this advanced machine.

Since its debut in February 2023, Keysight’s QCS has seen widespread use by universities, national labs, commercial companies, and startups across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
