Cybersecurity and Quantum Computing Research on Upswing. New study suggests trends under cybersecurity’s academic research moniker are on the upswing. Data collected from two 5-years periods, 2008 to 2013 and 2013 to 2018, were compared. Quantum computing projects nearly doubled. In part, the threat to encryption may very well be considered as an impetus to this increase as there was a “notable increase in cryptography projects” throughout academia.
