U.S. Army Seeking Quantum-assured Position, Navigation, Timing… But… A recent report on U.S. Army modernization has been released by the U.S. Government Accountability Office. The preponderance of technologies listed are near-term; now through 2026. However, quantum-assured PNT is not in the near-term. It rears its head circa 2050. Yep. 2050. This is suggestive of the current status of quantum at DARPA. The quantum technology for quantum-assured PNT is “not quite within reach, but…it will be available within a little more than 30 years…”
