Canada Airs Quantum Copmputing Aspirations and Funding Concerns at DRIVE 2019. Canada held its inaugural DRIVE conference bringing together policy-makers, researchers, accelerators, and technology companies in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.
Discussion focused on emerging technology trends, best practices, and improving Canada’s overall level of ‘tech-compete.’
Highlighted were two aspects crucial to quantum computing startup success. One, funding. Canada has a perception that venture capital funding, though good in the Quantum Valley, lags behind Silicon Valley startups. Two, ensuring the world knows quantum computing is happening. It is real and the puck must be moved from neutral ice to the offensive zone to put a score on the board, to borrow an ice-hockey analogy.
