Key Takeaways:

Strategic Collaboration: IonQ joins forces with NKT Photonics for advanced laser systems.

Next-Gen Technology: Three prototype optical subsystems will be delivered in 2025.

Data Center Integration: Systems designed for seamless integration into enterprise quantum environments.

IonQ has announced a new collaboration with NKT Photonics to enhance its quantum computing infrastructure. Under this partnership, NKT Photonics will provide three prototype optical subsystems by 2025, which will support IonQ’s commercial quantum computing solutions, including IonQ Tempo and upcoming barium-based systems.

The new laser systems are built on fiber laser technology, offering improved performance, scalability, and modularity. These features will enable smooth integration with enterprise-grade data centers, making the systems more accessible and efficient for end-users.

"We are pleased to partner with NKT Photonics as they share IonQ’s vision of developing high-performing, scalable and accessible quantum computers designed for enterprise data center environments."

— Dr. Dave Mehuys, Vice President, Product Engineering, IonQ

Basil Garabet, President and CEO of NKT Photonics, remarked, “We look forward to partnering with IonQ and supplying them with our unique laser solutions to advance the quantum computing frontier. Today’s announcement extends NKT Photonics’ long history of delivering industry-leading optical solutions for innovators.”

This collaboration builds on IonQ’s efforts to establish a robust manufacturing and supply chain. Earlier this year, IonQ opened a U.S.-based manufacturing facility for quantum computers and delivered its first ion trap to its European quantum data center in QuantumBasel.
