Canberra states it “is evolving to be more closely linked to citizens and businesses, adapt faster to change, minimize negative impacts on innovation, and ensure maximum access to international markets.” AI, QC, and other cutting-edge technologies are included in this evolution. The Australian Government sees close involvement, in part, in quantum computing:
1/ By assisting industry–research collaboration
2/ Through facilitating “the development of supportive ecosystems” in Australia
3/ For protection of the country’s intellectual property and commercial advantage.
“Strong, responsive regulatory systems help keep the Australian economy as efficient and flexible as possible, and they also help [Australia’s] industries compete in the global economy.” Just as the U.S. is promoting legislation to help the U.S. technical edge in quantum computing, so to is the government of Australia.
