U.S. GAO Establishing Audit Innovation Lab for Emerging Technologies. The U.S. Government Accountability Office launched a new Science, Technology Assessment and Analytics (STAA) team, expanding their effort on cutting-edge science and technology issues. In part, STAA will focus on establishing an audit innovation lab to explore, pilot, and deploy new advanced analytic capabilities, information assurance auditing, and emerging technologies that are expected to greatly impact auditing practices. The GAO will provide analysis of how U.S. federal agencies manage and employ science and technology, such as regenerative medicine, 5G wireless communication, and quantum computing. The analyses examine the potential benefits and challenges of emerging technologies, such as the aforementioned quantum computing.
