Graphene Valleytronics: Paving the Way to Small-Sized Room-Temperature Quantum Computers | Valleytronics is an emerging field in which valleys—local minima in the energy band structure of solids—are used to encode, process, and store quantum information. Though graphene was thought to be unsuitable for valleytronics due to its symmetrical structure, researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, have recently shown that this is not the case. Their findings may pave the way to small-sized quantum computers that can operate at room temperature.  Source: IIT Bombay.   Graphene Valleytronics: Paving the Way to Small-Sized Room-Temperature Quantum Computers…

Physicists Solve a Perplexing Nano-Scale Mystery That Could Help Prevent Overheating in Electronics | A team of physicists at CU Boulder has solved the mystery behind a perplexing phenomenon in the nano realm: why some ultra-small heat sources cool down faster if you pack them closer together. The findings, which will publish this week in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), could one day help the tech industry design speedier electronic devices that overheat less  Source: ScitechDaily.   Physicists Solve a Perplexing Nano-Scale Mystery That Could Help Prevent Overheating in Electronics…

Riverlane: UK Consortium Develops New Hardware Abstraction Layer to Facilitate Collaboration Across the Quantum Computing Industry | A consortium led by Cambridge-based quantum computing software company Riverlane and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has developed an open-source hardware abstraction layer (HAL) that makes software portable across different quantum computing hardware platforms.  Source: MORNINGSTAR.   Riverlane: UK Consortium Develops New Hardware Abstraction Layer to Facilitate Collaboration Across the Quantum Computing Industry…

Businesses are looking forward to quantum technology | A new study from Classiq reveals that nearly all respondents (95.7 percent) believe that quantum computing can bring performance breakthroughs. In addition, another 82.1% percent said that they see quantum computing as a necessity.  Source: Digital Journal.   Businesses are looking forward to quantum technology…

All-nitride superconducting qubit made on a silicon substrate | Researchers at the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT, President: Tokuda Hideyuki, Ph.D.), in collaboration with researchers at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, President: Dr. Ishimura Kazuhiko) and the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System Nagoya University (President: Dr. Matsuo Seiichi) have succeeded in developing an all-nitride superconducting qubit using epitaxial growth on a silicon substrate that does not use aluminum as the conductive material.  Source: PHYS.ORG.   All-nitride superconducting qubit made on a silicon substrate…

Unique amplifier could change optical communication | Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology present a unique optical amplifier that is expected to revolutionise both space and fiber communication. The new amplifier offers high performance, is compact enough to integrate into a chip just millimeters in size, and – crucially – does not generate excess noise  Source: CHALMERS.   Unique amplifier could change optical communication…

Physicists, Colleagues Offer Way to Control Qubits | A research team has developed new techniques for controlling qubits, which could help improve the accuracy of quantum computers.  Source: COMMUNICATIONS OF THE ACM.   Physicists, Colleagues Offer Way to Control Qubits…
