Controlled for First Time, Quantum Phenomenon Could Suggest Avenues for Technology

University of Chicago scientists have been able to create a new kind of quantum object at will in the laboratory: “domain walls.” The discovery can help researchers better understand exotic quantum particles—and could suggest avenues for new technology in the future, such as quantum electronics or quantum memory… “It’s kind of like a sand dune in the desert—it’s made up of sand, but the dune acts like an object that behaves differently from individual grains of sand,” said Ph.D. student Kai-Xuan Yao, the first author of the study…

A Dose of Reality? Quantum Profits Unlikely to “Pop” Through 2027

We found this analysis from The Register to be simple, short, and to-the-point.  It’s in parallel with what we are beginning to see. From comments left by readers, one strikes us over and over:  “That’s still a lot of people paying a lot of money for something that doesn’t work now, and still wont work in 2027” – druck. We’re not sure what cheek this punch landed on. Perhaps it was right on the chin. We recommend the full article at the link below. Because Quantum is Coming. Qubit

Operational! Finland’s Quantum Computer to March Beyond 5-Qubit Start

The 5-qubit quantum computer is part of a larger initiative. VTT and IQM aim to build together a much more powerful 50-qubit quantum computer by 2024 and further develop Finland’s long-lasting technology and expertise in quantum computing. The country already has an active research community called InstituteQ – of which VTT, Aalto University, and Helsinki University are the founding members – which is focused on developing world-class quantum expertise. BusinessQ network supports companies in incorporating quantum technology into their business, enabling growth for the Finnish society.
