Key Takeaways:

  • Historic Collaboration: EPB Quantum Network and Qunnect join forces for the first-ever joint assessment of quantum technologies in a commercial networking setting.
  • Accelerating Commercialization: Partnership signals a leap towards transitioning quantum advancements from theoretical research to practical real-world applications.
  • Chattanooga’s Quantum Hub: EPB’s collaboration positions Chattanooga as a key destination for quantum developers to validate and advance their technologies.

EPB’s Quantum Network, powered by Qubitekk, announced a collaboration with Qunnect, a leader in quantum-secure networking. Together, they aim to assess the compatibility of critical quantum technologies within a network – a first-time joint operation between two commercial quantum networking companies.

EPB‘s CEO, David Wade, emphasized the collaboration’s importance in accelerating quantum technology into commercial applications. This partnership positions Chattanooga as a hub for quantum developers to test and validate their tools and applications, pushing quantum technologies beyond the lab.

“This demonstration is a great representation of how the quantum industry can play a leading role in driving quantum technology from the lab to practical commercial application,” said Qubitekk President, CTO and Co-Founder Dr. Duncan Earl. “We’re excited to work with the talented teams at Qunnect and EPB to do just that.”

EPB Quantum Network and Qunnect’s GothamQ are among the initial commercially available quantum networks in the US. Both prioritize an open platform for companies to transition quantum technologies from theory to practical applications.

Qunnect’s CEO, Noel Goddard, sees the use of EPB Quantum Network as a unique opportunity to display interoperability among quantum component providers on a commercial infrastructure.

Both EPB Quantum Network and Qunnect are committed to expediting quantum technology’s commercialization, moving from theoretical research to tangible network development.

GothamQ, driven by Qunnect’s hardware, spans 50 kilometers in New York, connecting their R&D facility in Brooklyn to Queens and Manhattan. EPB Quantum Network covers an 8-kilometer loop in downtown Chattanooga, accommodating 10 interconnected user nodes with Qubitekk’s network equipment.

The collaboration signifies a significant step in leveraging the quantum industry’s potential for practical commercial applications. The commitment of these entities to drive quantum technology’s transition from the lab to real-world utility is noteworthy.
