Securing Data with Quantum Dots

Using quantum dots, University of Arkansas researchers have managed to detect single photons. Quantum dots are particles at the nanoscale on semiconductors. Low background noise coupled with a high-voltage created by the photon’s electron excitation makes this method more promising. Creating quantum bits resistant to background noise is key to enabling quantum encryption. April 26, 2018.
