The Quantum Flagship initiative launched by the European Union will fund alternative cybersecurity and cryptography development through a project dubbed Continuous Variable Quantum Communications (CiViQ). Their mission is to develop “low-cost QKD systems that can be integrated easily into emerging telecommunication infrastructures.” Steering their study away from budget straining photon detection methods, CiViQ will focus efforts toward electric field amplitude detection.
