IonQ Chooses Onshape Real-time Data Management to Develop Quantum Computer. IonQ, a foremost developer of quantum computers, has chosen Onshape as its primary quantum computing system design and data management platform. The Onshape design platform “combines CAD, release management, workflow, and real-time collaboration tools to speed up product development.” Previously, the design data-management system used by IonQ was a product data management system, or PDM. Keeping track of thousands of electrical parts, optical components, and vacuum chamber workings, was difficult due to “the whole check-out, check-in process of PDM.” With Onshape’s comprehensive capture of changes-made-attributes, any desire to return to a prior design state of the quantum computer is possible, at any moment.
