World Economic Forum Recognizes QuintessenceLabs’ Cybersecurity Efforts

2020 World Economic Forum Global Innovator

Australian quantum cybersecurity leader QuintessenceLabs is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the World Economic Forum to join their Global Innovators community. The World Economic Forum’s Global Innovator’s Community is a group of the world’s most promising start-ups and scale-ups that are at the forefront of technological and business model innovation.

QuintessenceLabs was founded in 2008 in Canberra by Dr Vikram Sharma, following ground-breaking research on quantum technology at the Australian National University. The company strengthens data security by integrating advanced quantum technology with best-in-class data protection solutions. These powerful solutions address some of today’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges while preparing organizations for tomorrow’s quantum computing threat to data security. QuintessenceLabs offers the world’s fastest commercial quantum random number generator, crypto-agile encryption key and security policy manager, and “virtual zeroization” solutions to secure sensitive data collected in uncontrolled environments. The company is also a leader in the development of quantum key distribution technology.

The World Economic Forum provides the Global Innovators Community with a platform to engage with public- and private-sector leaders and to contribute new solutions to overcome current global crises and build future resiliency. Companies who are invited to become Global innovators will engage with one or more of the Forum’s Platforms to help define the global agenda on key issues.

Prior to joining the Global Innovators Community, QuintessenceLabs was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer in 2018 for its potential to “transform society and industry and shape the fourth industrial revolution,” Fulvia Montresor of the World Economic Forum said. QuintessenceLabs was selected for its significant contributions in the field of data protection, securing valuable information today and into the future when quantum computing attacks will seriously challenge existing data security approaches. QuintessenceLabs has remained very engaged within the World Economic Forum community over the past years, with Dr Vikram Sharma, CEO and Founder of QuintessenceLabs contributing to numerous Forum events, including the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also dubbed “Summer Davos,” as well as the Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2019 and 2020. QuintessenceLabs has also participated in the preparation of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda on Cyber-Security. “It is a great honor and pleasure to work in partnership with the World Economic Forum Community to drive the development of innovative solutions to tackle the world’s most challenging cybersecurity problems,” said Dr Vikram Sharma. “Safeguarding our most valuable resource — information — has never been more critical. We certainly look forward to continuing this important work over the coming years.”

“The World Economic Forum is happy to have QuintessenceLabs join our Global Innovators community,” says Susan Nesbitt, Head of the Global Innovators Community, World Economic Forum. “Including new, innovative voices is essential in the work we do at the Forum; we look forward what QuintessenceLabs’ expertise on quantum cybersecurity will add to our projects, dialogues and platforms.”
