In a significant move, Infleqtion, a prominent quantum information company, has revealed its comprehensive 5-year roadmap for advancing quantum computing to a commercial scale. The introduction of the Sqorpius program marks a significant step forward, accelerating the development of both hardware and software necessary for delivering practical quantum computing solutions.
The roadmap serves as a guide for research and development in quantum interconnects, devices that link and distribute quantum information between systems and across distances to enable quantum computing, communications and sensing.
Commercialising quantum technologies could create an Australian industry worth $2.2 billion and 8,700 jobs by 2030. This could reach nearly $6 billion and 19,400 jobs by 2045. Australia has world-class quantum research capabilities and an emerging quantum technology industry underpinned by the expertise and IP developed in its research institutions.
